I want to find out more about NHS cancer screening

Screening is a way of finding out if people are at higher risk of cancer, so that early treatment can be offered or information given to help them make informed decisions.

This page gives an overview of cancer screening offered by the NHS

If you have symptoms that you are worried may be signs of cancer then please use the relevant symptoms link to check these. Please then submit an online clinical eConsult which will be dealt with promptly (by the end of the next working day at the latest ) . If you don't have internet access or don't have the necessary IT skills please phone the practice .

There are 3 main screening services currently offered by the NHS

  • Breast screening
  • Bowel cancer screening
  • Cervical screening

Male Patients often ask about Prostate Cancer screening. This is entirely understandable however the NHS doesn't currently offer this. This is not based on trying to save money but on the lack of evidence that such a screening program would save lives. For more information please follow the links below.
